Feeling sentimental about my own children this morning. So, while I sip my coffee next to my pup and listen to the mild shushing of the ocean waves near my Grover Beach home, I’ll reflect on this sweet friend and the lovely captures from one of many dreamy portrait sessions we’ve created together…
Motherhood and all its beautiful chaos is possible simply because of our capacity to love so wildly and unabandoned. As women we have these unimaginable super powers of humility, selflessness, compassion and discernment. The connection mothers have with our children is powerful and so very special. We know, love and see them like no one else can. We are literal heroes.
There’s also a loneliness in motherhood that is likely only understood from mother to mother. The sacrifices, the unseen, the losses, the comparison. We carry and carry invisible heavy loads while we create home, bake cookies and make worlds go ‘round. Again, we are literal heroes.
This mother featured below is a special one to me. I’ve watched Elisha gracefully endure fertility challenges with her husband Jordon and now has become the sweetest mother of 2. Nora and Dean are her babes and they are a dream. Elisha carries herself with grace and confidence. She’s simple in the most beautiful way and I appreciate that so much about her. She keeps life full of only what matters. She says, only what matters. She’s a beautiful mother and this session was just a small window into the incredible life that she and Jordon have intentionally designed for their little family.
We photographed her Motherhood Maternity session in Avila Beach California. She styled herself of course, because that’s her gift; making things beautiful. Although the tide quickly rose and we were nearly trapped in this lovely cove, this entire session is magical.
